Bio
I am a geographer and translator based in Oxford, currently enrolled in the Environment, Politics, and Society MSc. As a hobby artist, I value creative practice as a tool for reflection and reprieve within the frentic pace of modern urban life. In particular, I find the slow and tactile nature of fibre arts highly rewarding.

My piece is a multimedia embroidery that attempts to process the dread associated with climate emergencies. Climate disaster, while understood as undergirding all impending crises, is increasingly felt as an acute force of its own on urban life - particularly on a lifestyle that once seemed impervious to such effects for many Western urban dwellers.
The piece takes inspiration from the record-breaking wildfires of 2020, as well as one instance in 2017 when a hurricane brought a dusty, alien sky as far north as the UK. Walking through campus, I felt that day to be portentous, and the red skies which have since become emblematic of a new and urgent era of the climate crisis cemented that impression.
