Bio
Carlos de la Cerda is a student for the MA Cities and Society at Goldsmiths, University of London. Interested in everything that makes the urban, I see research and creative practice as a way of connecting with what surrounds me.
Forced migration is consistenly and structurally converted into in emergency - emergencies resulting from a lack of an efficient reception system that turns human processes into humanitarian crises.
Analysing the background and repercussions of the influx of migrant arrivals in the Canary Islands during the last months of 2020, this podcast aims to explore how emergencies are geographically spaced and the inequalities they represent.
Diverse audio elements are presented here to provide an overview of the sounds, stories and experiences of a human emergency and its research. They include interviews with Elvira Glezz and Isabel Linares from Mar Abierto Las Palmas, as well as original songs by Markus Sommer who assisted the production of the podcast.
